The Museum of Transport is operated by a volunteer charity - Greater Manchester Transport Society (GMTS), in partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).

You can help in many ways, from using practical skills to providing administrative support:

• Vehicle restoration work
• Displays, interpretation and presentation
• Undertaking research work
• Documenting and cataloguing our collections
• Collection care and conservation work
• Assisting with administration tasks
• Staffing the Museum
• Helping to maintain our building
• Staffing our free heritage bus services
• Developing our educational services and resources
• Showing visitors around the Museum
• Working behind the counter in our Tea Room
• Keeping our vehicles and collections clean
• Helping to maintain our vehicles to keep them roadworthy
• Helping out at special events
• Taking part in our community events
• Assisting with fundraising and sponsorship opportunities

Each area of work is carried out by friendly teams and there are always opportunities to work in different areas.
We're proud of our welcoming environment and are sure you will enjoy contributing to the Museum and helping to safeguard our heritage for future generations.

Work is carried out throughout the year and on different days of the week across a range of times, providing many opportunities for you to take part.
